Fees

"Lawyers are seldom loved but often needed." (Robert B. McKay)

A man went into a law office and demanded to see the lawyer. He was escorted into the lawyer's private office.

The man needed legal help, but he knew how expensive lawyers could be, so he inquired, "Can you tell me how much you charge?"

"Of course," the lawyer replied. "I charge $500 to answer three questions."

"Don't you think that's an awful lot of money to answer three questions?"

"Yes it is," answered the lawyer. "Now what's your third question?"

The dreaded LEGAL FEES discussion. Trust me, I understand how you feel about this. But I'm sure you also understand that attorneys have to make a living, too. And while I have tried to be transparent and up front by publishing this page, also know that stating specific fees for services that are unique to each individual client is basically impossible to do. It's not like buying a hat...or a pack of bacon (P.S. I LOVE bacon!).

Think of your last trip to the doctor. If you have a pain in your leg, you don't want your doctor to give you the same diagnosis and prescription as the last patient, without even examining you, do you?

So MY examination includes individualized advice, guidance, counsel, and support, as well as the actual reviewing or drafting of legal documents. I cannot determine what specific fee amount will apply to your case until we have had at least an initial consultation and I find out more about your circumstances. But hopefully this page will give you a general idea of what to expect.

Since each client's case is unique, a final fee quote will be provided after initial consultation, once the necessary client and case information are obtained.

My standard hourly rate is $280. However, I offer some flat rate fees for reviewing, drafting, and executing legal documents.

Low-Bono Fees

JBLaw provides pro-bono services through our work with non-profit organizations such as Atlanta Legal Aid and Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation. If you do not qualify for pro-bono services through one of these agencies, JBLaw also offers low-bono (discounted) services to those who qualify.

Your low-bono qualification will depend upon your household size and your gross income. If your income is at or below 200% of the federal poverty guidelines, you may qualify for our low-bono pricing. Additional documentation will be required.
