About Your Attorney

"Pleasure in the job puts perfection in the work." (Aristotle)

Not Your Typical Attorney...

What do you get when you cross a Virgo with an honors student and an accountant and an Air Force Officer and a fashion model and a computer applications instructor and a budget coach and a bowler and a dog-lover-without-a-dog attorney?

Sounds like a crazy gumbo-mix, doesn’t it? Well, if you haven’t already figured it out, what you get is ME!

I once had someone tell me that her first impression of me was that I was faking my “niceness…” because she didn’t think anybody could be THAT nice. But then she got to know me and realized that I WAS really THAT nice. Now, that’s not to say that I’m a pushover. Anyone who knows me will reassure you that I’m not.

And once you meet with me, you will see that as well. I am about BUSINESS…and my job is to educate and empower YOU to be about YOUR business.

So why do you need me and the services my firm provides?

Maybe you don’t know the answer to that question yet. But you came to this site for a reason. So while you’re here, please indulge me for just a few minutes more.

I am a transactional attorney, which means that my job is not to litigate or take a case to court. Instead, my job is to PREVENT litigation from happening in the first place. And I am here to assist you:

... with understanding, drafting, and properly executing sound, legal documents.

... with putting a plan in place BEFORE anything catastrophic happens to you.

... through the difficult process of managing the affairs of a loved one who has passed away.

Am I What You're Looking For?

I've never fit the mold of traditional or status quo...and I'm not your typical attorney-type. So if that is what you’re looking for, I may not be the right attorney for you.

I don’t cheat the system. And I don't do last minute "rush" jobs. So if that is what you’re looking for, I may not be the right attorney for you.

I don’t like using all of that legal mumbo-jumbo language (and I’m not knocking those who do). But if that is what you’re looking for, I may not be the right attorney for you. I try to avoid that when I have the flexibility to do so (sometimes, due to federal or state laws, it can’t be helped though).

However, I AM the right attorney for you if you:

* Need to prepare a new will or update your old will (maybe you have remarried or adopted a child, or just changed your mind about a few things);
* Want to set up a power of attorney or talk about whether you need one;
* Need help understanding the language in a contract you need to sign;
* Are technologically savvy but you still like personal contact directly with an attorney;
* Want to set up a trust for yourself or your minor children;
* Are about building and maintaining professional relationships;
* Want to ensure your wishes are carried out upon your passing;
* Just have questions because you're not sure WHAT you need yet;
* Need help setting up a small business or drafting your own contracts;
* Have questions about getting an advance healthcare directive in place;
* Just received a court summons and not sure what to do next;
* Need to file documents with your local court and you want to make sure they're right;
* Don't want to pay an hourly rate for legal services because you have no idea how long that might take, and you don't want to go broke just paying attorneys' fees.

If any of those seem to fit your circumstances, you’ve come to the right place. And if there is another category not listed above that fits your particular situation today, I'd love to hear about it.

Side note: While you’re getting to know me…in case you were wondering, "JB" IS my real, legal name. If I tell you anything else about that, I’ll have to kill you.

Ok...just kidding! But I digress…

I think you're ready to get started because you're HERE...now. And we know that tomorrow is not promised, so why don't we get started TODAY?

NOW is the time for you to take that next step.
